More about weeds

Invasive weeds are those that have escaped from their natural habitat and run rampant through the landscape like an invading army. They often take over those more delicate and sensitive plants, those inclined to live in harmony and balance with their neighbors.

Invasive weeds might form mono-cultures where much native vegetation is wiped out, nuance and balance destroyed, diversity and variety steamrolled, communities of living beings ruined.

They take over. They replace, they bully and subdue. To remove them, you must dig the deepest roots, tease them out of soil, and remain vigilant. One missed root can grow in the dark out of sight until it gains strength again, finally sending out more and more shoots and roots.

Encourage those native plants you wish to grow by strengthening them, providing the conditions they need to thrive.

Creeping Bellflower -beautiful but invasive

Just as invasive weeds can take over a field, a garden, a pasture, a flower bed, invasive thoughts and beliefs can root deeply into the brain, shutting down the assimilation of new information, burrowing into all areas of life, infecting, destroying nuance, new ideas, novel thoughts, creating a one-track mind, a mind that thinks in black and white, that is closed to growth.

Thoughts that served you well as a child, passed down from your family lineage may be harmful or hold you back now that you are an adult and can think for yourself.

These invasive and harmful beliefs and thoughts can be identified and questioned then rooted out with love and patience. Gently tease them out by the roots. Shine a light on them in the spirit of healing and growth.

Be vigilant my friends. Examine your minds and hearts for invasive recurring thoughts, anxieties, and beliefs that keep you stuck and your life small. Strengthen and encourage new thoughts that lift you and others up, that encourage your heart to expand with love, that help you live fully as you are meant to.

With time and patience you can bring to light and remove harmful invaders and strengthen that which you want to grow in your life.

Your spectrum of awareness

Many of you are sensitive to the spirits and energy that support, surround and permeate this world of mass, volume and matter. You have a wider spectrum of awareness than those who call you crazy, those who fear your power, those who cut you down to size, those who scoff at your light.

Do not allow others to talk you out of what you know to be true!

Soaring birds

You who can feel and hear and know the presence of spirits; do you sometimes feel overwhelmed by it all? Learn to set boundaries, to invite the compassionate helping spirits on your terms, on your schedule, and send those who drain you away.

Your voice is powerful! Use it to keep yourself clear and to connect with your inner strength and power.

Your roots connect you to the Earth. Draw up her energy to empower your body. You sensitive ones, especially will be most effective when you are grounded in the earth as well as connected to the heavens.

Focus your attention and set your intention to work in harmony with the spirit world.

You sensitive souls are needed here with your wider range of awareness to interpret higher vibrations, to channel healing energy and beautiful works of art, to help us all live in harmony and wisdom. Your gifts are a blessing to this earth. Know it is so.

What can you learn from plants?

What is it you’d like to know dear ones? Do you want to know what it feels like to live your entire life in the elements in tune with the seasons and cycles of nature? Do you wish to experience life from the perspective of a rooted creature of the earth?

Virginia creeper, sunlight and shadow

Can you imitate a magnificent tree, rooted and patient and focused in the here and now? Giving all of yourself to your current occupation, focusing your attention like a shaft of sunlight or a laser beam?

Do you know that roots give freedom to grow, reach, spread, and accept the gifts of sunlight, moonlight, rain, twilight, sunset color?

Do you become quiet and observant?  Do you breathe in the rich fragrance of the soil, feel the rough bark, become mesmerized by the shimmering silvery leaves overhead, marvel at the intricacy of our root systems?

The community of rooted beings has much to teach the human world, both at the physical level and the level of spirit. Can you quiet your mind and focus your powers of attention enough to learn from us?

Two webs

Billions of roots hold the soil. The multitude of grasses, the flowering beauties that return year after year, those rooted organisms you call weeds, the magnificent trees of our beloved planet all anchor our soil, forming a vast web of interconnection…  Call it love!

Honeysuckle and ash tree

The web of roots anchoring this abundant life mirrors the energetic web of all things, invisible to most, yet permeating and connecting all things in exquisite perfection. No word or thought or feeling of any human can be separated from this web. They are the stuff of the web.

The energetic vibrations of your feelings, thoughts and words announce you and create an energy pattern, unique to you. Others might not see this, but they can feel and sense it.

Your energies and vibrations join with those of others and yet others, and still more, creating intricate patterns and possibilities one alone could not dream of.

Just as the mighty roots of a cottonwood intertwine and interweave with the roots of other trees, grasses, weeds, and wildflowers, so do your thoughts and words interweave with the feelings, thoughts, and words of others. In this way, you are all connected at the energetic level…   Some call it spirit.

Healing with a tree

When despair or sadness come over you, take a walk – find a tree and sit at her roots, lean against her trunk.

Grandmother Cottonwood, morning sunlight

Now see yourself rooted deeply to the earth. Nothing can topple you. You are flexible and you sway gracefully with the wind, safely and securely anchored.

With the tree’s help, you can release the feelings that drag you down, and know yourself as a powerful being!

Let the despair, the fear, the grief you feel drain into the sweet earth where these energies will be transmuted, neutralized, and healed. Let your feeling be carried down into the earth on your out breath, through the trees roots – for your energies intermingle and become one.

Now imagine breathing earth energy up into your roots and bringing it into your lower body. Allow it to fill you with its calming and peaceful frequency. Allow the gentle tree energy to clear and renew you.

Now with your roots firmly planted, let your energy rise and expand with the trunk, branches and crown, taking in the sunlight and joy of living in this place at this time. Divine energy will fill your being as you allow it to pour through you.

Know the peace, solidity, awareness, and love of your chosen tree. Breathe healing energy from above and below as you merge and experience for a few moments what it feels like to be a column of light, rooted to the earth and reaching to the heavens.

Stone, mist or light?

You, with a human body: Do you know there is more to you?

You are body, you are spirit, you are emotions, you are energy.

You are like a heavenly body – a seemingly solid mass surrounded by an atmosphere that sustains, nurtures, and protects you.

Bare trees, low winter sun

When you identify only with your body you become over time a fossil, a mummy, a bag of bones, a bundle of nerves, disconnected from your shimmering larger self. Turned to stone.

When you identify only with spirit you are like a cloud; wispy, blown easily on the wind, like an escaped helium balloon, insubstantial, disconnected. Mist.

To fully inhabit your life, the earth (body) and sky (spirit) parts of you must be connected. I repeat yet again: root down and reach up.

You are meant to be a column of light like a magnificent tree that is anchored in the earth and growing effortlessly to the light above.  A bridge between worlds.

We will weather this storm

My dears, we will all weather this storm.

Send your roots deep into the earth, the loving mother that has always been the solid ground beneath your feet. You will weather this storm with deep roots, a firm and flexible self that will stay strong when the wind rises.

Know the power in your belly, your most precious birthright. Let it fuel you to speak clearly what is in your heart. Let it fuel you to act from your wisdom. Let it fuel your creative work.

Have you traded your power for a feeling of security, a paycheck, a relationship?

Call your power back now! You are needed now more that ever, living at full power, speaking with your full clear voice!

Weather this storm my dears, by expanding into the highest, healthiest, most passionate, focused, clear and magnificent human being it is within your power to become.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.
