Listen to the Earth

Put your ear to the ground. What do you hear? In what language does our Earth speak to you?

Can you hear the hundreds of thousands of earthworms turning and fertilizing the soil, carrying out their singular and necessary purpose in the web of life?

Can you hear the billions of roots of grasses, trees, wild plants and “weeds” food plants and flowers of all descriptions, reaching deep, stretching down, absorbing water and nutrients?

Deep rooted prairie grasses

Can you hear the fur bearing creatures in their dark and cool burrows, the snakes gliding almost silently along the Earth through the tall grass? Can you hear the nearby stream flowing quietly?

Can you hear the millions of ants creating their underground cities, marching in unison, intent on their building project, living their lives, feeding their families?

Can you hear the underground rivers, streams and aquifers, the water fresh and cool, lapping in dark rock shelters? Can you hear the slow dripping and dropping of lime infused water from ancient stalactites in secret caves so far beneath the surface of the Earth?

Can you hear the deep hum and vibrations of the bedrock, the foundation of ancient stones that supports our home?

Stone cairn

Can you hear the humming, the sound of creation as your ear tunes into the subtler frequencies of the Earth’s spinning, her movement in space?

Can you hear the deep and awesome harmony of creation? All is one great symphony of sound and vibration.

The earth speaks to us in her language of stone, metal, water, fire, air, soil, seasons, night and day, and abundant life of all descriptions.

Underlying all on our Earth is the sound of creation, the great hum.

Hot weather and harmony

Do you say “I hate this weather!”? Do you curse everything outside your refrigerated homes? If so, you are rejecting the magnificent earth that is your dwelling place and creating disharmony.

A change in the weather

Do you become quiet and study her cycles of heat, cool, rain and dry? It is vital that humans pay attention to the minute changes  and learn to live in harmony with our earth.

Rejection is not harmony. Fighting against is not harmony. Fearing is not harmony. Creating an enemy is not harmony.

Dissonant vibrations are created by skewed thinking, then move from person to person, then move into your larger world. These vibrations are unhealthy and hurt all they touch. They create unsettled unpleasant feelings that tear at the web of all that is.

You do not feel good in the presence of this dissonance, yet you continue to create it.

Is it so familiar to you that the harmony of acceptance, kindness, compassion, and well being feel strange and threatening to you? I tell you that as an infant, you too were alive with the harmonies, chords, and tones of love. You were in harmony with others, co-creating an amazing composition of exquisite complexity! You did not complain about the weather!

The more you push against and create disharmony with others, with the earth, with the weather, the more you weaken the fabric of the web of life that sustains us all.

Cease your pushing. Accept what is. Breathe. Hum a lovely tune that makes you feel good!

The joy of song

I celebrate your amazing voices, lifted together in song.

Singing red-winged blackbird

You create a powerful uplifting current of sound energy that envelopes and permeates all. It heals and clarifies and brings those who hear closer to the powerful knowing of the oneness of all things.

I, a magnificent cottonwood do not hear, but I feel the waves of sound, I sense their harmony or disharmony. I sense the presence of the highest energies rising on the tidal wave of your joined voices. I feel them in my roots, trunk and crown.  All that is extraneous falls away before your joyful harmonious tones produced with love.

Sing from the deep heart of your being. Let your voice be heard! Let the vibration of love you express be transmitted to the web of all things to set it singing with joy.
